Vardan Bichakhchyan was born on October 9, 1977 in Gyumri and has spent almost all his entire playing and coaching career at his hometown club SC Shirak. Bichakhchyan's professional career started in 1996, when he was transferred from the youth academy of Shirak to the first team. There was only one season Bichakhchyan didn't wear Shirak's jersey, in 2004 he left for Yerevan's Mika. After return from Yerevan he played 5 more seasons in Armenian Premier League for Shirak and retired as a player. Transition from a player to a coach happened almost immediately as Bichakhchyan was appointed in Shirak's Head Coach position in 2010. First success came in 2011, when under his leadership Shirak reached the Armenian Cup Final. Together with the team our coach celebrated the Cup title winner a year after. Shirak led by Bichakhchyan became a strong team with stable results fighting for Domestic titles in Armenia over 10 seasons. There are 1 Armenian Premier League (2012/13), 2 Armenian Cup (2011/12, 2016/2017) and 2 Armenian SuperCup titles (2013/2014, 2017/18) in Bichakhcyan's active with "Armenian Coach of the Year" award won in 2016. Vardan Bichakhcyan is a UEFA Coaching Pro Licence holder since 2012.
In July 2020, Vardan Bichakhchyan has left for Yerevan to manage FC Ararat.
